Delhi: Metro will run at a speed of 120 km on the Airport Express Line, trial is going on

The speed of the metro will soon increase to 120 km per hour on the Airport Express Line. Trial is going on for this. Approval will be given to increase the speed of the metro after the inspection of the Metro Rail Safety Commissioner. This line is being extended up to India International Convention Center (IICC) in Dwarka Sector-25. With its completion, tourists and air travelers from India and abroad will get a chance to travel in the fastest running metro in Delhi. Passengers will be able to reach this center directly.

Trials were started last year to increase the speed of the metro in a radius of 22.7 km. At present, the speed of the metro is 80-85 km. With the increase in speed, passengers will take 15 minutes to reach Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi Airport (IGI) from New Delhi. At the same time, due to the increase in the speed, the flight passengers will take 4 minutes less time in each round. After the extension of Metro till IICC, the network of Airport Express will be about two kilometers long.

IICC station is ready and it is believed that from the very first day the passengers will get a chance to travel in high speed. According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the speed of the metro will be increased in phases on this corridor. The track is being equipped with instruments to monitor the speed round the clock besides installing high frequency tension clamps on the track. The speed of the metro will be increased in phases.

Will soon be able to travel till IICC in high speed metro

Before increasing the speed of the Metro on the Airport Express Line, many technical changes including track, signaling are being made. The Airport Express Line has 6 metro stations including New Delhi, Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kuan, Aerocity, Airport Terminal 3 and Dwarka Sector-21. Passengers will be able to travel on the high speed metro corridor after the metro is extended till IICC station. The metro will run at a speed of 120 km per hour on this line.

Metro is equipped with modern facilities

At present there is a metro facility from New Delhi to Sector-21 on the Airport Express Line. For the convenience of passengers, the metro has many modern facilities including laptop charging, comfortable seats. Already, check-in facility has been started at New Delhi Metro station for the convenience of air passengers. With this, passengers will not need to repeatedly check-in the luggage at the airport. After check-in, there is a provision to give boarding pass to passengers at New Delhi station as well.
